  CLUB HISTORY   

The ABEGWEIT PADDLERS CLUB OF PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND is a Olympic sprint racing style canoe and kayak club. The club is open to boys and girls (minimum age of 9), men and women of all ages, to come experience canoeing and kayaking. The ABEGWEIT PADDLERS CLUB OF PEI is a member of PEICKA and of the CANOE KAYAK CANADA. The club curently operates on Glenfinnan Lake in between Mermaid and Fort Augustus.

2007

  • On February 10 th 2007, the name of the club was decided by the association members.
  • Weekly winter fitness training is taking place at UPEI for a select group of 15 youth.
  • A new more permanent site is to be chosen.
  • Club must expand itself in membership base.

2006

  • Provincial trials for 2009 CANADA SUMMER GAMES took place on
  • A summer coaching and training program took place.

2005

  • The olympic sprint racing style canoe and kayak program was started by the following people;
